What do you actually do at gracie’s gals?
Well, we always start with clearings and vibrations. A clearing is something you need to get off of your mind, in order to be present and a vibration is something that fills you with excitement that you absolutely NEED to share! Each class is centered around a positive affirmation, for instance, “I am strong and powerful!” We move our bodies a lot – from fun circuits to yoga to guided runs and sometimes even personal safety classes! We have a dance party every day and we play a lot of games too! After we finish the movement portion of our class, we journal and follow with a discussion about our entries and anything else that the gals may want to share. As a young gal, I grew up thinking that every time I worked out, it was exactly that, work. I had to “burn off” what I ate or punish myself with a workout. Here at gg’s, we teach the gals that moving your body is a gift, it boosts your mood and makes you happy and you can make friends while doing it! Moving your body is not punishment. Moving your body is FUN!
Why is it called “gracie’s gals?” Are you gracie?
Nope! I am Shelby! I am the Founder and Head Coach at gracie’s gals, but I named the company after Grace Gualtieri. She and I lived on the same street for many years and I used to babysit her and her brother (hey James!) Over the course of about ten years, we had become quite close and she became more like a sister to me - that’s why I named the company after her. I like to say that gracie’s gals was created based on my own experiences growing up and Grace was the one who inspired me to put the dreams and plans into action. When I started training and running with her I knew I was onto something! Read our story, to find out more!
Do I have to be an athlete or ‘super fit’ to join gracie’s gals?
At gracie’s gals, if you have a body, you can be a gg! It’s really that simple. Our coaches keep this top of mind while teaching our classes – there are always options for our gals to choose what movements best suit them, at the time. Our coaches meet the gals, where they are in their movement journey and in life, too!
Why gracie’s gals and not girls?
I grew up hearing one of my Aunts, Fiona, call everyone gals instead of girls and I just liked the sound of it! To me, gracie’s gals had a nice ring to it!
Will there be gracie’s gals for boys?
For now, we are focusing on the gals! Boys certainly need to be empowered too. There are so many great empowerment resources out there for boys – I’ll do a blog post on this soon, I promise!
